DONATIONS OF FOOD AND SUPPLIES ARE IMPORTANT! Please Remember To Donate To Your Local Rescues & Shelters
Did you know...
Animal shelters and rescues are 100% donation funded. And it takes A LOT of resources to make it all happen. Shelters need SUPPLIES. Lots and lots and lots of supplies. The first thing that comes to mind when donating is always TREATS AND TOYS. But honestly, those are among THE LAST thing any shelter or rescue really needs.
FOOD FIRST! Caring for homeless critters takes a ton of stuff. so DRY DOG FOOD is first priority.
For rescues that offer a safe haven for cats, CANNED CAT FOOD by the case is always appreciated.
And since Kitties poop in their domiciles, NON-CLUMPING KITTY LITTER is also essential.
CLEANING SUPPLIES Rescues and shelters spend a lot of time mopping and wiping and cleaning. That takes a lot of supplies. BLEACH BY THE CASE PAPER TOWELS BY THE BUNK LAUNDRY SOAP
BLANKETS & FLEECE Every dog should be sleeping in a bed, but shelters don't offer human beds so the next best thing is a warm and cozy blanket. Fleece works too. FLEECE YARDAGE BLANKETS OF ALL SORTS (knit blankets are not the best...nails get tangled).
Another great way to donate is with Gift Cards. Rescues and shelters are non-profit...so they can stretch a gift card by saving tax and/or taking advantage of certain rewards available only to them.
$Shelters also need cash. Cold, Hard Cash$ CASH to pay vet bills (No, veterinarians do not provide services to shelters for free. They get paid just like we all do).
CASH to pay overhead like rent and utilities too.
CASH to pay staff salaries. Lots of folks volunteer, but paid staff is also an integral part of any valid shelter.
Shelters need VOLUNTEERS to assist staff in caring for, walking, socializing, etc. There are limitless ways to help. Donating food and supplies is a start. Thanks in advance.
